Tapering Resources

Patients come to metabolic therapies with a range of goals. Some choose to use them as an adjunct to psychotropic medications, while others may experience unwanted medication side effects and aim to taper down or discontinue them altogether. Our priority is to empower patients to pursue the approach that feels right for them.

For those considering tapering off psychiatric medications, it is absolutely critical to do so under the guidance of a knowledgeable clinician. Unfortunately, many prescribers are not adequately trained in safe tapering practices, which can lead to serious risks. That’s why, in addition to working closely with your clinician, we strongly encourage you to educate yourself on hyperbolic tapering strategies. Reducing or stopping psychiatric medications should never be done without a thoughtful, well-informed plan.

TaperClinic offers a personalized, virtual program specializing in safe psychiatric medication tapering, combining expert care with lived experience to support lasting recovery. Their patient-led approach provides flexible, empathetic guidance and advocates for those harmed by psychiatric drugs.
