Together, we’re making metabolic therapies accessible to all!
Turn your passion into action by volunteering with Metabolic Collective, a nonprofit that builds advocacy communities to raise awareness and expand access to metabolic therapies for psychiatric and neurological disorders.
Our Mission
Metabolic treatments aim to improve cellular function and optimize the body’s energy systems through interventions like ketogenic therapy, fasting, and exercise. The evidence supporting metabolic therapies for psychiatric and neurological disorders is growing rapidly, and personal stories of transformation are multiplying.
Patients and families whose lives have been changed by these treatments are often eager to join a supportive community, share their experiences, and help others benefit.
Metabolic Collective was founded by passionate volunteers who had collaborated with Dr. Christopher Palmer, a Harvard psychiatrist, to raise awareness of metabolic psychiatry and his brain energy theory, which links psychiatric conditions to metabolic dysfunction. Both Dr. Palmer and Metabolic Mind, a nonprofit exploring the connection between metabolism and brain health, receive countless messages from individuals eager to volunteer, highlighting the urgency of this mission and its potential for wide-reaching impact.
In response, we launched Metabolic Collective to mobilize volunteers, foster regional advocacy, and build a global grassroots movement in metabolic psychiatry and neurology.
We mobilize volunteers into advocacy communities
- Facilitate local and virtual peer support networks for individuals and families affected by psychiatric and neurological disorders to share experiences, advice, and support related to metabolic therapies.
- Offer volunteer opportunities for individuals in remission or in recovery to gain meaningful work experience while building connections within a supportive, like-minded community, fostering belonging and shared purpose.
- Train peer & family leaders to serve as advocates, educators, and support facilitators within their communities.
- Increase recognition of metabolic therapies as viable treatments for psychiatric and neurological disorders within healthcare systems by amplifying current evidence and testimonials.
- Coordinate volunteers to engage in public awareness campaigns through social media, newsletters, partnerships, and regional events.
- Host webinars, panel discussions, and regional workshops featuring experts in metabolic psychiatry and neurology.
- Partner with mental & neurological health organizations to promote a broader understanding of the connection between metabolism and brain health.
- Advocate for insurance coverage and policy changes that support the inclusion of metabolic therapies in mental & neurological treatment plans.
- Create partnerships and provide financial assistance with low-cost providers to ensure underserved communities can access metabolic treatments.
- Promote research and clinical trials by driving the demand for science, engaging new researchers & connecting community members with opportunities to participate in studies on metabolic therapies.
- Promote continuing education courses for clinicians to gain knowledge of metabolic treatments.

Testimonials
“It has meant so much to meet others who treat me as someone with dignity first, illness second. I am grateful to be a part of Metabolic Collective, and to help shift the paradigm for those who suffer from brain-based disorders.”
—Chris Medrzycki
“I never expected to find such meaningful connections with people who share my son’s diagnosis and are in full remission from their psychiatric illness. I’ve witnessed transformational recoveries and I know what is possible for my son’s future.”
—Janet Ebos
