Groups and Events

Welcome to our Groups and Events page!

We’re in the early stages of growing a grassroots movement—one we believe has the potential to spread organically and reshape how communities support metabolic therapies for psychiatric and neurological conditions. As we build, our success depends entirely on the strength, participation, and leadership of people like you.

Here, you’ll find updates on emerging live events, workshops, and community meetups within the Metabolic Collective, along with information about groups beginning to form in different regions. We’re just at the beginning, and while there may not be many events or local groups yet, we know this will continue to grow with the support of our community.

Our vision is to grow a vibrant network of regional hubs and online communities rooted in the REBUILD principles from the THINK+SMART framework. REBUILD emphasizes community, social interactions, finding purpose and meaning, and seeking out support systems. Developed by Metabolic Mind, THINK+SMART provides a practical, self-guided framework to help individuals and communities apply metabolic interventions in meaningful, sustainable ways.

If this resonates with you, we invite you to help shape what comes next. Whether you want to attend, connect, or take an active role in building and leading a group, this page is your starting point. Together, we can turn this early momentum into a movement.

Head Strong: Lived-Experience Panel from The Cholesterol Code

Join Metabolic Collective for a special lived-experience panel featuring participants from Chapter 7 (“Head Strong”) of The Cholesterol Code. This virtual event brings together voices from the film to explore how metabolic therapies are shaping real lives, families, and futures at the intersection of heart and brain health.

Moderated by Metabolic Collective’s Director of Impact and Operations, Natasha Smikles, the conversation will highlight both the science and the lived experience behind metabolic approaches to mental health. Panelists include:

  • Dave Feldman – An engineer-turned–citizen scientist whose personal health journey sparked the global Cholesterol Code investigation and the documentary itself.
  • Matt Baszucki – A mental health advocate who has shared his recovery from severe bipolar disorder using ketogenic and metabolic therapies, now working to expand awareness of these approaches.
  • Robyn Dobbins – Metabolic Collective Community Coordinator, podcast host, and advocate who uses a ketogenic, metabolic approach in her own mental health recovery and supports others on similar paths.
  • Dr. Eric Rodgers – A lived-experience advocate in remission from depression through metabolic strategies, featured in Metabolic Mind’s THINK+SMART stories.

Together, they’ll discuss the making of The Cholesterol Code, the “Head Strong” chapter, and how metabolic psychiatry and community support are opening new possibilities for people living with serious mental health challenges. This event will take place on Monday, May 11 at 6:00-7:30 PM Central, with time reserved for audience Q&A.

The Watering Hole

Hosted by Metabolic Collective, The Watering Hole is more than just an event—it’s a vibrant meeting place for connection and growth. Each month, we bring together individuals from all walks of life, united by a shared purpose: to learn, engage, and inspire new ideas. Through thought-provoking discussions, guest speakers, and collaborative conversations, The Watering Hole creates a space where curiosity meets community.

Each session features an inspiring guest speaker and Q&A, followed by a guided group discussion designed to turn ideas into action. Participants will have the opportunity to explore how they can advocate within their own communities and begin developing ideas to launch their own groups, initiatives, or projects.

At The Watering Hole, every conversation plants a seed—and together, we’re cultivating a grassroots movement for real change.

Join us on Wednesday, May 13 at 12:00 PM Central
with special guest Dr. Kristina Dobyns

For this month’s session, Dr. Kristina will guide us in using somatic and nervous system tools to build more calm and resilience in everyday life

Dr. Kristina Dobyns is an integrative recovery specialist, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, and founder of Beyond Binge Eating, a holistic platform for women recovering from binge eating, compulsive food behaviors, and sugar addiction. She holds a PhD in Somatic Psychology and a Master’s in Exercise Science and is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist who weaves somatic tools, nervous system regulation, and metabolic strategies into practical, hope‑filled recovery support. Kristina hosts the Beyond Binge Eating podcast, where she explores food addiction recovery, emotional eating, and the emerging field of metabolic psychiatry, highlighting how nutrition and body‑based practices can support long‑term healing.

Join us for a Watering Hole session on Wednesday, May 13, 12:00–1:30 PM Central. With both educational and experiential components, Kristina will explore how body‑based and nervous system–focused practices can support daily life—especially in moments of stress, overwhelm, or emotional intensity. She’ll share simple, body‑based practices that you can start using right away to cultivate more calm, agency, and self‑compassion in your day‑to‑day routines, relationships, and healing work of any kind.

Following the presentation, we will hold an open discussion where members of Metabolic Collective can connect, share insights, and engage with one another. This is an opportunity to meet fellow community members online and build meaningful connections around shared interests.
